Our Upcoming Events
Red Meat Updates 2026
Under the theme ‘making it count – optimising the farm system’ this year’s event will feature a range of technical presentations, producer case studies, tools, resources and research findings to support Tasmanian producers in making every dollar, minute and hectare ‘count’. Reuben will be giving a presentation ‘setting up dryland and irrigated paddocks for success with drainage’.
Red Meat Updates is an annual conference developed to provide information, inspiration and connections for the Tasmanian red meat industry. The program is developed by a producer-led working group, which ensures the event is relevant, valuable, respected and well attended by sheep and cattle producers.
Red Meat Updates was first held in 2013 and has continued to grow ever since. The event consistently attracts more than 300 people, with over 350 people attending recent years and tickets selling out in advance. Approximately 70% of conference attendees are sheep and cattle producers.
Red Meat Updates covers a range of production, business and supply chain topics under the themes of beef, sheep, dryland pasture and irrigated pasture.
The event is funded by industry organisations and businesses and has very clear objectives in what it sets out to achieve.
The Red Meat Updates objectives
better connect individuals and organisations involved in the red meat industry and encourage networking.
raise awareness of red meat research, development and extension programs and projects.
highlight research outputs that have relevance to Tasmanian red meat producers.
identify useful and relevant tools and resources that are available to industry.
showcase what is possible (stretch targets) in terms of sustainable and profitable production and motivate producers to want to improve.
highlight examples of what producers are doing to work towards achieving these stretch targets.
signpost activities, programs and projects producers can get involved in to enable them to build knowledge, skills and make meaningful on-farm practice change.

Berry Practical 2026
Berry Practical is a new two-day event designed directly from grower feedback
It is focused on practical, on-farm learning that growers and farm staff can apply immediately. Through presentations, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and farm-related site visits, attendees will gain the knowledge and confidence to adapt new ideas to their own operations. Everyone who attends is guaranteed to learn something new, and the event will be particularly valuable for younger and less experienced growers, as well as farm businesses looking to upskill staff and introduce them to the broader berry industry.
Berry Practical will focus on action-oriented learning, including:
planning farm improvements and expansion
recognising and responding to pest incursions
improving irrigation, water and nutrient management
using farm data to support better business decisions
understanding biosecurity and nursery stock quality
exploring new options for integrated pest and disease management
learning directly from growers, consultants, suppliers and industry experts

July Seasonal Update with Ag Logic & TAS Farm Innovation Hub
What El Niño means for the coming Tasmanian season, and how you can plan ahead.
El Niño has officially been declared, even as parts of Tasmania received up to 80mm of rain in the same week. To help us better understand what El Niño actually means for Tasmania, last month we were joined by the Bureau of Meteorology to unpack the key climate drivers at play. This month, we’ll be joined by Pinion’s Jason Lynch to explore what these conditions mean for on-farm decision-making, and how producers can use this information to plan ahead.
Marek will also share his seasonal update from around the state.
Fruit Growers Tasmania Cherry Workshop
Fruit Growers Tasmania invites cherry growers and industry stakeholders to join an engaging, practical workshop on Thursday 11 June at Reid Fruits, Jericho, focused on improving productivity, resilience and orchard performance.
From soil health and water infiltration to the latest research on protected cropping and pollination, this in person workshop brings together growers, researchers and industry experts to share ideas, experiences and practical take-home insights for Tasmanian cherry production.
Hear updates from current research projects, explore real world grower experiences and take part in discussions designed to help you apply new thinking back in your own orchard.

We will cover:
• Planning for significant rainfall events
• Managing soil moisture and improving drainage
• Timing dry down to maximise yield and quality
• Making confident decisions in uncertain seasonal conditions
